Tuna Fish Joe is Sexy Mr. March, woof woof!
We’re really excited that Tuna Fish Joe is a calendar centerfold! He’s Mr. March in the 2016 Friends of the Shelter dog calendar! The calendar proceeds support 2 local central Ohio non-profits.
Friends of the Shelter
Friends of the Shelter funds the medical care for the sick and injured dogs at the Franklin County Dog Shelter in Central Ohio. They also helped save Tuna’s life from parvovirus! He was picked up as a stray dog and was unfortunate enough to have parvovirus and hookworm. FOTS was able to give him the urgent care that he needed so that he didn’t have to be euthanized. His shelter name was “PJ”, but I had the name “Tuna Fish Joe” picked out 10 years before we met. I figured it was safe to assume that name was available and hadn’t been used before.
Faithful Forgotten Best Friends
Faithful Forgotten Best Friends helps improve the quality of life of the pets of the homeless and less fortunate in Columbus. They educate owners, provide vaccinations, food, and assist with spaying and neutering of pets. Many homeless stay on the streets with their pets if they have a difficult time finding housing. FFBF is the only non-profit in the Midwest that helps the homeless with their pet care.
Connie Swackhammer of Faithful Forgotten Best Friends took Tuna’s glamorous photos. He was somewhat shy at first, but he warmed up and started to strut his stuff with his cute little bow tie. Tuna got to romp around at BarkPark for the day with a few other dogs who were also on the calendar. He knows basic commands such as sit and stay, so that helped make the photoshoot go a little smoother. And once the squeaky ball made an appearance, Tuna was all smiles for the camera.
